In a nutshell (bag?)
Me, in a nutshell…
I am a 30-something old male, married with one happy son and one brand new, squeaky daughter. We live on the coast of Maine and are a bit odd in some ways, but then… aren’t we all.
I tell people that I’d be Libertarian except that I like driving on public roads and going to the library. My own views are that if what you’re doing doesn’t hurt any one or bug me, then it’s fine in my book. I’m a social liberal and a fiscal conservative. I like to shoot high powered rifles but will take the time to set a ladybug I find in my house, free. I like the idea of socialized medicine but distrust government intensely. I totally support the rule of law yet love the Founding Fathers or our country for being the treasonous bunch of law breakers they were. I’m full of contradictions and rather like it like that. Politically, I figure that as long as I’m ticking off everyone, I’m right where I should be.
What will you find here? Good stuff, mostly. That is to say, I like to write about the good things in life. The daily grind can wear anyone down and I think there are plenty of blogs who take care of the complaining and “issues” we face all the time. My goal is to keep things fun, interesting and at the very least, thoughtful. I hope you enjoy the ramblings. I’m having a great time jotting them down.
I refer to my son here as Short Stack, my daughter as Lulu Belle and my wife as Action Girl. They are the center of everything to me. Action Girl and I have been together for almost twenty years now and still seem to have a lot to talk about every day.
Things I enjoy being include…

Dear Mr. Prawn,
Thanks for your comment on my blog. I would definitely wait until the exchange rate turned more favorable before another foray in Paris but considering our latest unemployment figures and European banks upping their interest rates, I would not hold my breath.
Buenos Aires would be a lovely alternative and the dollar is still stronger than the Argentinian Peso. Well today it is anyway.
I love your family nicknames and your Action Girl seems to be a girl according to my own heart. I think your son got the short end of the stick with his “Short Stack” surname and I would hope you would change that before the therapy bills start stacking up
Thank you for visiting my blog. I’ve hardly found any time to work since the onset of my blogging life…
I also command you on political tick off philosophy. I would politically blog my socks off if I weren’t living in Texas and my site was not linked to my professional site.
Oh one last thing, I LOVE the Cheese Man!
your writing is fantastically entertaining. i especially loved your post about finding favor with your stoic, tree-cutting neighbor. (i have long wanted to post a comment about how much i enjoy your blog.)
cheers!
Well hey! Thanks!
I’ve been really enjoying the chance to do some writing. I’m just glad that other folks have found it enjoyable as well.
Thanks for the encouragement and the kind words. I’ll do my best to keep you all entertained as I try to hone my skills.
Best wishes,
-TP
